Dorothy Monson, a long time volunteer with the Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots U.S. shares her thoughts on volunteer service.

"To be a volunteer in Alaska is a truly awesome experience.  We have the opportunity to witness our faith as we work among the people of the villages."

She continues, "Being a returning volunteer, I've come to know that every adventure, each year, is a leap of faith.  The one sure element is that God is in every moment that we serve.  Though we face unforeseen challenges in our experience, we will always be blessed by our service.  God's promises are sure and true.  We are to focus on the message we hold in our hearts, for then Jesus will be honored and glorified through us!  Volunteer and allow God to show you the awesomeness of His joy and faithfulness in your life!"

Dorothy and her family have served in Ruby, Alaska since the summer of 2001.  Dorothy, Phil and now their son, Mark, will be returning again this summer, 2008.
