2009 Ft. Yukon Update

Tell A Friend

Several years ago JoAnn Nielsen (Minnesota) and Wanda Thoreson (Minnesota) joined forces to create a powerful volunteer team for Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots U.S.  In the last few years, Rose Dunham (Iowa) and Lynne Strehlow (Wisconsin) joined with them and together they share God's love in Ft. Yukon, Alaska.

This year is no exception!

JoAnn is happy to report, "As for our week in Ft. Yukon, once again God is always so good and there with us."

She goes on to say, "We do have many concerns about them being spiritually fed there." In so many of these isolated communities, it is difficult for there to be a consistent spiritual presence. Thankfully, God provides committed volunteers who, year after year, share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with children and adults in these communities.

Our ministry volunteers were able to provide the precious children in Ft. Yukon, as well as their families, with messages from God's Word filled with His love.  JoAnn notes the response towards the end of their time, "Sunday morning at the worship service we asked the kids to sing in church - understand this is a first!   We had around 13 or so kids that showed up and it went very well - certainly had many more in worship that way, too.   We could tell the people really loved it."

Please join with us in praising God for the amazing work He is able to accomplish.  We pray that the Holy Spirit will penetrate the souls of Native Americans this summer.
