Annual Luncheon

A Time of Thanks and Celebration at the 23rd Annual Meeting and Luncheon

Tell A Friend

A beautiful spring bouquet of flowers as the centerpiece at each table welcomed the 165 guests who attended the 23rd Annual Spring Luncheon of the Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots U.S. and participated in the Annual Meeting.  Featured this year was the ministry of Dan Treakle, Missionary/Pilot serving the interior of Alaska.

Tribute was also paid to Dr. Betty Duda for her years of dedicated support and leadership as a member of the Board of Directors and President.  Pictured are Betty and her husband, John, as they received a hand-crafted Native American drum from the Rev. Dr. Don Johnson, Executive Director.  In presenting the special gift to the Dudas, Don Johnson expressed his personal thanks and appreciation to Betty for her loyalty and strong support over the years.

Expressing her thanks, Betty Duda told how she had grown through her experiences with the Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots U.S. and thanked God for the opportunity to serve.  She also recognized John for his loving encouragement over the years.  Of the drum, Betty had this to say, “It sums up what we are all about.  The beauty of the instrument speaks out the love of the artist and the people we serve.  I will cherish it.”

The Annual Meeting and Banquet was held at the Milwaukee West Radisson Hotel on Saturday, March 29, 2008, where members of the Board of Directors had just completed a two-day meeting.  Newly elected to the Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting is Jenny LaGrange of Oviedo, Florida.  Re-elected to serve another term on the Board are Marilyn Egland of Bettendorf, Iowa; Jim Dankenbring of St. Louis, Missouri; Dennis Bauer of Lame Deer, Montana; Paul Biegner of Brainerd, Minnesota; and Barbara Schoenbeck of River Falls, Wisconsin.
