“Let your steadfast love, O Lord be upon us as we hope in you.” Psalm 33:22
That is my heart Lord. Thank you for your steadfast love and hope as He brings us into a new season at Haskell Indian Nations University.
Our daughter Brittany just graduated from high school; she is now attending Johnson Junior Community College in Kansas City. We are so proud of her and happy that she remained here in Lawrence instead of going back to Canada. All in
God’s timing she will move to that place He has for her. But for now mamma is happy she is with us. Matthew is going into grade ten and continues to play hockey.
As for Will, or should I say Pastor Will, his coursework is complete and by the time this article is published, he will be ordained in the Lutheran church! I’m so proud of my husband and very excited that he is walking in the destiny that God has determined for him! Speaking of new things we also have a new President at Haskell Indian Nations University. His name is Chris Redman. We are so blessed that God has led him to Haskell. Will and I are also volunteering to teach a class for Haskell that is called Vision Quest (College 101). We have 15 students and are able to teach it at the Haskell LIGHT house.
We are excited because at our first worship service on Sunday, August 28, we had a total of 15 students that attended. We were rejoicing because God’s Word does not go void and we continue to press in and cry out to God to see His salvation and Glory fall on this generation of young people. It is evident that the Holy Spirit is at work in the students as we have built relationships and encourage them throughout the year.
We are continuing to have our time of Creative worship and praise mixed in with Bible study on Wednesday night. We are praying for some more young people. The young lady that helped with music for the past two years has since moved onto another place. But our God is faithful and I put my trust in Him that He will send the right students. I believe that songs are so intertwined with our First Nations people - they had songs for everything; morning songs, war songs, change of season songs, hunting songs and the lists of songs go on. We believe that true praise invites the presence of God. We want the presence of God on this campus. The drum for us reflects the heartbeat of the Father and His love. Will and I so desire His love to overflow into us, so that we can reflect His love to the students. The key to ministering is LOVE. His love brings healing and covers the multitude of sins; His love brings restoration.
We will continue to work with the students in various ways, such as Princess Warriors, mentoring and speaking into the lives of this generation, helping wherever we can and sharing the love of Jesus. This is a very exciting time. I believe we have crossed over the river of Jordon. It is a great place of ministry.
Serving and loving on this generation and appreciating you, our friends, for making it possible!
