2009 Hydaburg Update

Tell A Friend

On June 11, the M/V CHRISTIAN was returned to the waters of Southeast Alaska, after

having to “be on the hard” in Wrangell, during the winter and early spring months.  Since her return to ministry, Pastor/Skipper Stan and First Mate Sharon, have visited several communities, returning to what they love the most, sharing the love of Jesus Christ with people living in the isolated communities of Southeast Alaska.

Hydaburg was their most recent stop where they held vacation Bible camp with the help of long time volunteer Abby Thomas.  This year Abby’s mom, Naoma, joined her.  Here is Sharon’s recap of their week together:

“The time in Hydaburg has been so blessed.  There are lots more adults coming on board the boat than ever before, who spend time visiting.  I feed anyone who comes aboard!  And there has been lots of laughter, as well as some crucial conversations of painful journeys.  We feel so blessed to be here, and to be a vessel that the people feel safe and welcomed on."

Sharon continues, "Abby and Naoma are wonderful volunteers with hearts for God and the people love them.  They are thinking about staying aboard with us, and accompanying us to Angoon.  This would give them some much needed rest, as well as help for the next village.  Please keep them in your prayers. “

Indeed, please keep the ministry of Pastor/Skipper Stan and his wife and First Mate Sharon in your prayers, and all of our faithful volunteers, as they continue to share the message of hope and love in Jesus Christ with the people of Southeast Alaska.
