"...I was in prison and you came to visit me." (Matthew 25:36)
Will and Patricia Main, our ministry staff at Haskell LIGHT Lutheran Student Center in Lawrence, Kansas, received this letter from a former student at Haskell Indian Nations University. Unfortunately, this student was unable to continue his studies due to a run-in with the law.
"I miss going to school and classes at Haskell. I drifted away from God and I just stopped trusting Him.”
The student continues, “When growing up…I had to grow up quick to survive in this world because my mom passed away. I have been in several foster homes and I don’t have anyone in my life to show me what a family is like.”
We are all God’s children. Even though each person’s story is different, there is often a hole inside of each of us that only He can fill. You can hear the longing in this young man’s heart for a relationship with his heavenly Father.
Thanks to you, Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots U.S. is able to be there for this young man. We are so grateful for the opportunity to share God’s love with him and those we come into contact with through Haskell LIGHT. Our ministry through Haskell LIGHT reaches beyond the walls of the university and into the hearts of real people who need help filling the holes in their lives with God.
This young man sent us his thanks, which I would like to pass along to you, “God is blessing me by bringing you into my life. Thank you for replying back and writing to me some encouraging words about my personal Savior, Jesus Christ.”
Please keep this young man, and the ministry of Will and Patricia, in your prayers.
