Today, we ask for prayers for the community of Hoonah, in Southeast Alaska. We ask God to grant these people peace and comfort following the recent killing of two local police officers.
Our ministry vessel, the M/V CHRISTIAN, was visiting Hoonah as the stand-off took place. The village church was blocked off during the stand-off, so Pastor/Skipper Stan Berntson and his wife, Sharon, held services on board the M/V CHRISTIAN in the harbor nearby.
We are thankful for their presence there during this tragic event. We ask God to wrap His comforting arms around all the family members who have suffered traumatic loss and that a healing peace will blanket the community through this painful time.
Stan and Sharon will continue to visit Hoonah in the months to come to offer pastoral and counseling services. They have met with community leaders to offer the M/V CHRISTIAN as a vessel for gatherings and retreats to work towards healing and renewal as individuals and as a community. We ask that God will bless these efforts and the leaders of this community as they try to move forward following this tragic event.
