Tell A Friend

This new year brings with it many challenges and opportunities to see and be humbled by the Power of God, as He brings us through the many trials and disappointments that daily life can bring us. At Haskell Indian Nations University we have the wonderful challenge of ministering to a wounded and hurting people group. Native Americans are not the only ones who are being affected by the economic climate, all people are! Patricia and I just happen to be called to minister the Good News to our own people.

Many new things are happening for us this year, but one of the miraculous blessings that will be mine this year is my upcoming ordination! When we first arrived in Kansas some five years ago and I began my studies, ordination seemed like some far off unachievable dream. Through careful and intentional study and by the power of the Holy Spirit I am very close to completion! What a mighty God we serve! I must add that the blessings of my wife and children have been a huge boost during my times of study. The constant encouragement and love given to me by them has helped me to keep my eyes fixed on the big picture! Upon my ordination in October, I know that God will begin to release His plan for my new role and responsibilities. This will certainly be an exciting year for our Campus Ministry!

Another exciting door that has been opened to us is the opportunity to bring the Good News to our Native American brothers and sisters who are incarcerated at two of the detention facilities in Kansas.  I have filled out the necessary paperwork and been approved as clergy to witness, pray and fellowship with those who have requested a Native Minister! What a mighty God we serve. This challenging opportunity was something that we never could have imagined.  Truly God opens doors that no man can shut!

As we begin a new semester at Haskell we are getting to know and learn about our new Vision Quest students.   Patricia and I both volunteer to teach this freshman class because we see it as such a wonderful opportunity to meet and engage with students enjoying their first year at Haskell.  We already have had many students requesting prayer and fellowship and we know that as the semester progresses we will have many more opportunities to share our lives and faith with the students.

We continue our weekly Bible study on Wednesdays over the noon hour.  We prepare a small meal and study God’s Word in an informal setting which places the students and newcomers at ease. We have students returning to Bible study from last year - this is very encouraging! We also continue to offer worship opportunities every second Sunday at the LIGHT House.

I am humbled by the support of all of you who have sacrificially given during these challenging economic times and I am honored that through your support we can continue to effectively minister to our people. We can and should expect that God is truly preparing His army to take this “Good News” back to our reservations and homelands!
