A Winnebago Christmas

Tell A Friend

On December 11th the children of Jesus Our Savior Lutheran School, on the Winnebago

Reservation in Winnebago, Nebraska, did their part in sharing the Christmas Story  during their Christmas celebration. The older children rang bells and read from God’s Word, while the preschool children dressed as angels for the part they played in the true story of the first Christmas.

Pastor Ricky Jacob, who serves the Winnebago Tribe through Jesus Our Savior Lutheran Outreach and Preschool writes; "Over 80 people heard of God’s grace. My message entitled “Singing With the Angels” was based on the Gospel of Luke and a favorite song of the preschoolers throughout the school year: “Angels We Have Heard on High”.  The chorus includes these words:  “Gloria in excelsis Deo!” and we are blessed to give glory to God with the angels throughout the year!

He continues, "My ministry here is one of countless challenges and opportunities to share the love and mercy, hope and joy of knowing and trusting in Jesus our Savior. These opportunities come during Sunday morning Bible Studies, Divine Services; weekly confirmation classes and adult instruction; teaching the upper grades Old Testament history three days a week as well as leading weekly chapel services. Thank you for your prayers and your faithful support!"

  •   Our teachers Jana and Connie (both travel some distance to serve here)
  •   Our 21 students and their families.
